yup..another birthday party!

Hello.

I hope you're all having a nice weekend.  We're having a nice, relaxing Sunday.  We got up this morning and David and I made blueberry pancakes for the boys.  We really enjoy having a nice family breakfast on Sundays, and the kids LOVE their blueberry pancakes.  After breakfast was cleaned up, we took the boys to the track and and played catch. 

Alex has a birthday party to go to tonight for his friend Ethan.  I wanted to share the card that I made this morning.  Yes, I used the Stampin' UP! "All in the Family" set again.  I think this is by far one of the GREATEST sets that Stampin' UP! sells.  I LOVE it (just in case you haven't noticed).  I used some old, retired SU Designer Series Paper, Old Olive ribbon, and Bashful Blue Cardstock. 

Do you like?  Sorry, the lighting isn't great, it's a very cloudy day here in Pittsburgh.  I just couldn't get the lighting right.  UGH.  It's so fun and bright in person, wish you all were here to see it!

Just a quick share!

Good Morning,

I snuck into my craft room this morning and played with my new Stampin' UP! Final Press Textured Impressions Die.  I used the ink dauber and colored the folder black and then ran it through my Cuttlebug with pumpkin pie cardstock, then I cleaned the folder and inked the folder with white craft ink, and ran it through again with black paper. I finished it off using my favorite hostess set Holiday Wishes, and of course a touch of glitter.

Do you like?

 

Ok, quick question. I have been reading online how to take better pictures of my projects so their colors are more crisp and true to their actual shades.  I did this "homemade light box" and I think it helped.  Do you like the way this looks better.  I think the white background really shows off the work much better.

News Anchors of Tomorrow

I know two posts in one day.  Impressive!  Although the second post isn't craft related at all.  I wanted to share pictures of something my boys and I did yesterday.  We went to our local news station with their Boy Scout Troop.  We got to go behind the scenes and see the news and weather first hand.

I definitely thought it was just as cool as the kids.  We got to sit at the anchors desk, and play in front of the green screen!  Do you know what the funniest thing to see was?  It was seeing the women news anchors in fip flops and slippers.  I guess that's ok when nobody sees your shoes!

 Here are a few shots for you to enjoy.

I think they're debating on who will do weather and who will be doing sports when they're older.

Ok, off to the playground we go.  I have 4 boys here and the only place 4 boys should be is either at the playground or a pool.  Inside, not so good!

Halloween in August

You got it.  It's time to start thinking of Fall.  No, I'm not wishing Summer away, but Fall is by far my favorite time of year.  I love the crisp mornings, all the craft fairs, the rich colors and of course my favorite..the smell that only Fall brings.  I wanted to post these cute frames last week, but it was about 98 degrees here and 200% humidity, it just didn't seem to be a fitting time to share Fall projects.  I'm too excited and just can't wait any longer! 

I LOVE THIS LITTLE GUY!!!!  I used the Top Note Die along with the new Casting Spells Designer Series Paper,  the new Level 1 Hostess Stamp Holiday Best and to finish it off, I added a few black Stampin' UP! buttons.  WOW, add a few simple products and look at what you get!  If you're in my monthly Scrappie Gals Creative Club, you'll be happy to know this is one of your projects we're making in our September Club!

Won't this make the perfect gift for a teacher or friend?  Stay tuned because I'm going to offer this frame as a Kit to Go!  But it's going to be even better!   I'll have my samples posted by the end of the week!  You'll be so excited to see what I have up my sleeve!!!!  

Oh ya..did you notice my little doodling around the frame?  I LOVE to add a little doodling to projects like this.  It seems to make the project a little warmer and more inviting.  Call me crazy, maybe I just like to doodle. I  think I'm going to send this to SU for their WOW quarterly project entry.  Wish me luck!

I wanted to share all the prints you receive in one package of the New Designer Series Paper, Cast-a-Spell.  It's soooo perfect!  It's such a great deal.  for $9.95 you will get 12 sheets (2 of each double sided print).  That's less than $1.00 a sheet!

Here is the 2nd frame that I made using retired Halloween papers from last year.  I didn't want to show this one first, since of course the papers used are no longer available.  I really loved the paper so much that I did buy a few extra packs at the end of the catty year.  So, if you have a favorite paper, be sure to add some extra to your stash so you have some once it's gone.  No worries though, the catty is here to stay until next July!

Finally!!  My last frame to share is one I made using just two coasters (compliments of Outback).  I just cut out the square and covered with DSP, and VIOLA!  I added some spiders that I cut using my Quickutz Die Cutter, and of course a little more doodling. Of course the google eyes, just completed the package. These papers are also retired from last year, sorry. 

The reason I  wanted to share this card is because I love the "Trick or Treat" sentiment as my framed image.  It's so perfect!  You could hang it anywhere, your house, office, or give it as a gift to a friend or family member!    BEST YET...IT MAKES A PERFECT LITTLE GIFT FOR YOUR CHILDS TEACHER!

Wedding Season Straight Ahead & A Little Invite For YOU!!

Good Morning to you all.

Not sure what the temperature is in your neck of the woods (ha, do I sound anything like Al Roker?), but it's definitely a scorcher here in Pittsburgh.  It's an ozone action day today, so staying inside and getting caught up on cleaning and laundry sounds like the perfect idea.

BUT FIRST...before I clean, do laundry and run errands, I wanted to play  in my craft room.  My friend Tanya sent me a txt message of the cutest wedding card she made this past weekend.  Of course I have no idea how to get that text message picture to my blog (if any of you know how, please share).  She made me realize that I haven't ever made a wedding card.  Funny huh?

So, here is what I believe to be my first wedding card and matching lined envelope. (CLICK ON PICTURE TO SEE LARGER)  Do you like?  I have to say that I absolutely LOVE the way it turned out, and especially love the layout and layering.  I NEVER ever use Nestabilities and I've had them for quite some time.  Every time I would attempt to use them, I could never get the embossing part to work.  So, with much determination and lots of attempts to get them perfect, I DID IT!  For those of you that are in my card club, I'll share with you all how to do this at our first club in September!!! 

You'll definitely see much more of this "outlined embossed look" on my cards going forward.  It's so incredibly simple, but adds such a finished look!

My music play-list....

Happy Friday! It's a Beautiful Sunny Day!!

Good Morning!

It's a beautiful Friday morning, I took my laptop outside to hear the birds and see the golden glow of the morning sun.  I took a break from getting the laundry finshed and packing for our weekend in D.C.  Cameron absolutely loves going to Washington D.C.  He thinks it's so cool to see all the statues and momuments.  He wanted to go to the top of the Washington Monument for his birthday, so that's where we're headed this evening.  My plan is to take the boys to the pool today and tire them out so they'll be pooped and tired for the three hour car ride this evening. 

Alex and Cameron are total water kids.  They LOVE the beach, they LOVE the pool.  I am so glad I have boys that love to be in the water ALL THE TIME.  Alex really started swimming well this summer, he's even tried diving off of the high dive at our swimming pool.  Nope, no more shallow water for him!!!  Here are some pictures of him yesterday diving off of the diving board.  I have to share that he really just started swimming about 2 months ago!

 

 

OK, DID YOU THINK I HAD NO CARD TO SHARE - Well, you"re super wrong.  I just had to brag about my little swimmer first!!!

I snuck away to my craft room last night after everybody went to sleep, and boy did I have a good time playing.  I tried out a new technique called recessed windows.  It was a little tricky the first time, but I can see myself making lots more projects using this technique!

It looks like a super cute little shadow box.  It's very hard to see it in the pictures, so I tried to place it in the direct sunlight so you could see the shadow of the main box sitting back behind. 

NOTE:  I would not have used the green ribbon, if I had some of the blue left.  So, just "pretend" the colors match!  Ahhh, I may have to repost this using a different color ribbon.....hmm.  I just was so excited to post this technique.  

WELL, I ADDED A NEW PICTURE BELOW USING DIFFERENT RIBBON (which I must say is one of my FAVORITE ribbons), and a little chipboard heart on the cute upper owl.  BETTER, huh?????  It's amazing how a project can change when you tweek it just a bit more!  UGH...i can't get my camera to click with my laptop...check back.  I PROMISE I'LL HAVE A BETTER LOOKING VERSION OF THE CARD BELOW!

My Two Little Beach Bums

Good Morning Everybody..

I'll have something "creative" posted later today.  For now, I wanted to share a couple of pictures of my little beach bums.  These were taken when we were on vacation in Virginia in July.  We took the kids to Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, and Virgina Beach.  I've been wanted to post some, but just finally downloaded our vacation pic's.  I'll try to get some more to show at another time soon.

   

 

Feelin' a Little Creative!

It's been pretty busy here the past couple of days.  Yesterday was my baby's 9th birthday, so I was busy getting a cake made, gifts bought and house decorated.  I did have some help from my niece Julia, who is here visiting us from Maryland.  She and the boys are having a really nice time hangin' out at the pool and playing  with Cam's new WII Resort game.

Here are the projects that we made in our club this week.  I wanted to share, and I hope you like!  Let me know what you think!

The first one is a "Post it Note" holder that I made using a clear acrylic frame that I snagged at the Dollar Store.  They're so incredibly easy, and super handy.  I have it sitting right on the window ledge in my kitchen.  It's always in the same place when I need to jot down a quick little note. 

I've been wanting to use the twigs from my tree's in the backyard, and I thought this was the perfect little project.  I'll be back there prunning more branches for sure...I've got lots and lots of great projects in my little mind, so stay tuned.

 

The next card is really cool because I love how it stands up, I haven't seen any cards stand up like this, so I hope you like it.  I simply cut a sheet of 8.5" by 11.5"  and then scored it at 3.5" and 2.75".
